Introduction to Kindergarten: Tips from the teacher
A decoration that you can make from waste paper and still have fun together with the children
Join the children in a creative adventure and together create magical flowers from waste paper! This simple and fun activity will delight young and old alike as you design flowers to liven up your home or special occasion.
Start by collecting different types of waste paper, such as colored magazines, old paper bags or even old wrapping paper. I myself used waste paper from printing cards and posters. Then draw a plant, a flower with a pencil and cut out the leaves in the shape of petals of different sizes and colors. Children can use scissors or die-cut shapes to create unique patterns and textures. Or, if they are younger and don’t yet know how to use scissors, they can just paint the flowers.
Then start assembling the flowers! You can put them in a bouquet and wrap them with a decorative ribbon or find twine, ribbons for garlands. Children can participate in every step, from drawing, cutting to coloring, developing their imagination and fine motor skills.
When you are finished, you can use your drawn flowers to create a beautiful garland to decorate a wall or window, or arrange them in a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the table or as a gift. This creative experience is sure to create memories you’ll cherish for a long time!
